First picture of UK terror attack survivor after her husband was killed

The first pictures of Melissa Cochran, the wife of one of the Westminster terror attack victims, have emerged as she is treated in hospital.

Despite having lost her husband and seeming to have extensive injuries, Cochran manages to smile in the pictures.

The couple had been on the trip of a lifetime as they travelled around Europe.

They were on the final day of a visit to London to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary when they were caught up in the carnage on Wednesday last week.

Kurt Cochran, from Utah, was killed while walking on Westminster Bridge as a car mowed down pedestrians.

His wife Melissa could be seen lying on the floor with blood pouring from her head.

Melissa, 46, suffered a broken leg, rib and cuts to her head when Muslim convert Khalid Masood rammed his Hyundai 4x4 into pedestrians on the bridge.
