AIADMK mouthpiece takes on PM over cattle ban

Namadhu MGR, the official mouthpiece of the AIADMK, now controlled by the Sasikala-Edappadi Palaniswami faction, has a strong editorial on cow slaughter. The editorial has criticised PM Narendra Modi on the Centre's notification banning the sale of cattle for slaughter at markets.

The editorial says it's an individual's right to choose what is being eaten. The editorial warns the Centre not to interfere in personal choices on food and interfere in what's chosen from the menu card.

The editorial comes on the day of the release of the party's deputy general secretary  TTV Dinakaran from jail yesterday, in the cash for symbol scam.

Recently, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister met  Modi and assured the AIADMK's support for the BJP's Presidential candidate.

The Sasikala camp wants the Prime Minister to stall proceedings in the disproportionate assets case against Sasikala and her family.

But Sasikala wants to project the image that the party and its rank and file are against the BJP and the PM, and that is precisely why the edit in Namadhu MGR is anti-Centre.

Sources say that it is Dr V Maitreyan of the O Panneerselvam camp who has exposed Sasikala's doublespeak.
