3 youths wanted in stone-pelting cases arrested from Delhi

Three men, who are wanted in stone-pelting cases in Sopore district of Jammu and Kashmir, have been arrested from New Friends Colony area in south east Delhi, police said today.

"Acting on a tip-off, Yawar Muzaffar and Waseem Majid Dar (both 21-year-old) and Danish Hasan Dar (22) -- all residents of Baramulla in Jammu and Kashmir -- were arrested from New Friends Colony market on late evening of February 20," DCP (Special Cell) P S Kushwah said.

They were wanted in connection with stone-pelting cases of Sopore and arrested under Section 41.1 (arrest without warrant) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, he added.

Bhat and Waseem have two cases of stone-pelting and other offences registered under various provisions of Ranbir Penal Code against them in Sopore, while Danish has three such cases, the officer said.

Bhat is also involved in two cases of Arms Act registered in Sopore and Srinagar, he said, adding all the three have been sent to judicial custody. -- PTI
