Shaheed Bhagat Singh's grandson carries soil from Jallianwala Bagh to India Gate in New Delhi on Wednesday in a reenactment of what the iconic freedom fighter did in 1919.

It is believed the Jallianwala Bagh incident inspired Bhagat Singh to join the movement for freedom and he had carried a small bottle filled with the blood-soaked mud from Jallianwala Bagh to his house and vowed to follow in the footsteps of the freedom fighters who had died in the massacre.

It was the revolutionary leader's 109th birth anniversary yesterday.
