Whether Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi will rejig the organisation or not, a re-allocation of the chambers of office bearers of the AICC at its headquarters at 24 Akbar Road has happened.

There are 45 small rooms in the AICC headquarters where the general secretaries and other office bearers have chambers where they interact with party workers.

Yesterday, Congress chief Sonia Gandhi with the active support of senior leader Janardhan Diwedi reallocated many of the smaller rooms to party secretaries.

Puducherry CM V Narayanaswamy's chamber has been allotted to a general secretary, while six other rooms are being re-alloted as well.

Narayanaswamy's room is said to be auspicious because apart from performing pujas in the room, he also became MoS in the PMO during Dr Manmohan Singh's tenure and a CM thereafter. The room is in great demand in the AICC.
