Sena MLC seeks curbs on Pokmon Go in Maharashtra

Maharashtra legislative council chairman Ramraje Nimbalkar on Friday directed the government to look into the craze of the mobile game, Pokemon Go, and take necessary action.

The free-to-play location-based augmented reality mobile game, released early this month, allows you to find and catch more than a hundred species of Pokemon as you explore your surroundings.

Neelam Gorhe of Shiv Sena demanded that the government regulate the game as people have died while playing it. "Countries like US have taken steps to regulate its use as many accidents were reported while people were playing it. Not all issues can be resolved by banning them but youngsters have been seen stopping vehicles in the middle of the road to catch Pokemons, and this can cause accidents," said Gorhe.

She also said that since the game requires players to disclose location, it can be a safety hazard.
