BJP may finally get Shekhawat's portrait in Parliament

Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan is said to have approved the installation of a portrait of BJP leader and former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat in Parliament. Several BJP MPs on Tuesday met the Speaker in her chambers inside Parliament House and insisted that a portrait be unveiled of Shekhawat. This request has since been pending since 2014 after the BJP assumed power.
Mahajan, as a Speaker is the chairman of the Statue and Portrait Committee of Parliament, and has assured BJP MPs that she would certainly prioritise the issue.
