Sopore: Militants hurl grenade; 1 killed, 4 cops wounded

An accused was killed and four cops escorting him seriously wounded in a blast near Hygam village on the outskirts of north Kashmir's Sopore town in Baramulla district this afternoon.

A senior police officer said militants hurled a powerful grenade at a passing police vehicle which exploded.

"An accused was killed on the spot and four cops were seriously injured. they have been evacuated to hospital for treatment," the officer said.

Senior police officers along with reinforcements have reached the spot and the area has been cordoned off for searches.
