Cyclone hits Kutch in Gujarat

According to reports, A major cyclone has hit Kandla in Kutch, Gujarat. Extremely heavy widespread rain has been recorded over most parts of Gujarat. After remaining almost dry and rain deficit for about 20 days in the month of July, heavy Monsoon showers have finally made an entrance in many pockets in the state.

This is reportedly the heaviest rainfall in Gujarat in 18 years.

As per the latest prediction of the MeT department, cyclonic storm Nilofar is expected to hit Gujarat on the night of October 31 as a "marginal cyclonic storm", against the earlier prediction of it being "severe".
