2500 Indians rescued so far: Home Ministry

Immediate steps were taken by the GoI under the leadership of PM Modi after the Nepal earthquake. "PM informed me about the earthquake and the quick response that should have been shown by me as home minister, was shown by the PM. "Sankat ki ghadi mai Bharat ki sarkar Bharat-vaasiyon ke saath bhi khadi hai, aur Nepal-vaasiyon ke saath bhi. (In times of disaster and distress, the government of India will stand by both Indians and Nepalese)," Singh says.

"Over 2500 Indians evacuated from Nepal. Tonnes of relief material sent to Nepal. A total of Rs 6 lakh has been pledged to families of Indians who have died in the earthquake," Rajnath said.
