A flood alert has been sounded in Srinagar after rains caused water levels of the River Jhelum to rise. The water levels at two measuring points Sangam, in south Kashmir, and Ram Munshibagh crossed the 'alarm' level on Monday, officials said. Officials have asked people living on the banks of the river and in other low lying areas of south and central Kashmir to be alert.
