The chargesheet filed against the Jadavpur students have been withdrawn.

Students had gheraoed Vice Chancellor Abhijit Chakrabarti demanding that two external members be included into the committee that is investigating the alleged molestation of a girl student.

Rediff.com's Indrani Roy spoke to students who said that the VC said the committee was formed as per the guidelines of the Supreme Court. Students said they were upset at his attitude, when he told them, "I'm not paid to speak to students. It is below my dignity to speak to students."

The VC and Registrar were freed in the early hours today by a strong contingent of police force which arrested 35 students.
