Jaffer Sharrief resigns from the Congress

Vicky Nanjappa reports: Veteran Congress leader and 7-time MP Jaffer Sharrief has quit the party and wants to stay away from politics.

Visibly upset over the way he was treated by the Congress, which denied him a ticket to contest his last Lok Sabha elections from the Bangalore Central constituency, Sharif sent his resignation to Congress chief Sonia Gandhi before leaving for Mecca on March 19.
