Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy, the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh has chosen the slippers (chappals) as the election symbol of his new political party, which he has christened Jai Samakyandhra Praja Samiti (JSPS).

The Convenor of the party is Undavalli Aruna Kumar, a former Congress MP.

The party symbol signifies Lord Rama's paduka, a symbol of respect.

Reddy holds the distinction of being the last chief minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh.
