Conveyed to Mrs Gandhi that we wanted to contest elections alone: Omar
July 20, 2014  14:46
Following the announcement that the Congress and National Conference have split in Jammu and Kashmir, the state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah clarified that it was his party that had asked for the split and not the other way round. He tweeted, "I met the Mrs Gandhi 10 days ago and thanked her for all her support. I conveyed NC's decision to fight the elections alone. I explained the reasons but also told her I wouldn't be making a public announcement because I didn't want it to look opportunistic."He later added that it was wrong to report that the Congress had demanded for a split and a complete distortion of the facts.
