Veteran director K Balachander passes away

Veteran director K Balachander who was recently admitted in Kaveri hospital in Chennai has passed away.

The ace director was in ICU in a critical condition.

K Balachander was instrumental in both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan's film career. When he was first admitted in the hospital a few days ago, superstar Rajinikanth among the first to visit his mentor in the hospital.

The acclaimed director's son Kailasam passed away recently a few months ago. Kailasam, aged 53 was heading his own production house, Min Bimbangal, which produces several television programs.
