Since the CM comes from Gorakhnath Math every cloth he wears is of saffron colour - right from his dhoti to 'safa', socks and ever underwear.

Considering the importance of 'gerua', bureaucrats are trying to paint the environment with the trending colour.

BUREAUCRATS RESPONSIBLE?

The CM had only instructed officers to keep a saffron-coloured towel on the chair but the officers extended the colour code to everywhere in Lok Bhavan where he does cabinet meetings.

During press conferences, saffron towel is seen on Yogi's chair kept in the middle of the row. If the CM doesn't come to the press conference then the chair is removed.

The lobby of Lok Bhavan is decorated with saffron-coloured cloth. At the main gate the flowers and the pot too follow the colour code.

It is learnt that initially bureaucrats were busy colouring things with saffron but gradually they realised that more than colour their work matters as Yogi keeps a close eye on everyone.

Gorakhnath temple's Dwarika Tiwari explained the importance of saffron in the Nath monastic order.

The way white-coloured clothes are important for the Vaishnavs similarly for the Naths saffron is the key colour. Tiwari said saffron is not a matter of choice but of tradition.

According to him, Yogi's clothes come from Gandhi Ashram and are coloured with saffron.

In the shops of Lucknow, saffron-coloured clothes now sell like hot cakes.
