Visakhapatnam: Businessman stabbed by knife in July 18 daylight attack succumbs to injuries

A top businessman hailing from Andhra Pradesh's coastal town of Visakhapatnam, who was brutally assaulted by unknown miscreants on Monday, succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.

Vikram Dhameja, 47, who owns a firm called Big Cranes, was attacked along with his wife Jyoti, 40, and driver Janardhan, 47, with knives on Monday by six assailants at his Sea Surf apartment on Beach Road of the city.

The police have constituted 10 teams to arrest the accused and are investigating several angels that led to the incident.

Business rivalry has been suspected prima facie as the cause of the attack, according to the police.

ATTACKERS CAUGHT ON CCTV

The identity of the attackers and the vehicle they came in have been captured on CCTV.

Sources said that the police they have identified eight people of a Jharkhand-based gang who were involved in the fatal attack that took place in broad daylight.

Talking to India Today, Vizag Police Commissioner T. Yoganand said, "We have found the vehicle used in the crime was crossing Icchapuram check-post the same night. We are also seeking help from neighbouring states. Soon we will arrest them."

According to sources, cops arrested the supervisor of the apartment and another local on grounds of suspicion on Monday.
