Three days after an ambulance of Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College , Meerut, loaded with liquor cartons for annual alumni celebrations was caught on camera, another shocking incident of gross misuse of hospital vehicles has surfaced in Uttar Pradesh. A video that has gone viral shows an ambulance ferrying passengers in Lakhimpur Kheri.

The driver of ambulance No. 102, which is deployed at the Public Health Centre in Mohammadi city for fetching pregnant women, was caught on camera using the vehicle to ferry the general public. The ambulance could be seen being brazenly used as a public transport vehicle.

Chief medical officer Javed Ahmad has ordered an inquiry into the incident after the video went viral. "The ambulances, No. 102 and 108, cannot be used to ferry passengers. The ambulances are maintained by a private agency. We have sent the video and letter to the area manager of the agency," Ahmad said. Strong action will be taken against the driver after the inquiry report is submitted, he added.

On Monday, doctors-from the 1992 batch of Lala Lajpat Rai Medical College, Meerut, boozed, danced and watched Russian belly dancers at the Silver Jubilee function, which was organised by the Old School Association on Monday. The rather shameful incident was captured on camera. Video footage shows an ambulance with registration number UP 15 CT 2860 loaded with cartons of liquor parked in the premises.
