US warns Pakistan to act against Haqqani Network or face their wrath

US Senator John McCain has warned Pakistan to either act against eliminating Haqqani Network from its soil or else face a change of tune in America's stance.

McCain was speaking in Kabul ahead of US gearing up to send more troops to Afghanistan to support Afghan forces straining to beat back the resurgent Taliban.

Senator John McCain, who is in Kabul after his visit to Pakistan, asked Pakistan to do more in its efforts in countering terror groups operating from its soil.

McCain said, "We have made it very clear that we expect they (Pakistan) will cooperate with us, particularly against the Haqqani network".

He also said: "If they don't change their behaviour, may be we should change our behaviour towards Pakistan as a nation".

The senator's statement came a day after he led a bipartisan Senate delegation to Islamabad, where Pakistan officials said he had reaffirmed the country's role in regional stability.

The senator's visit to Islamabad and Kabul comes at a time when the US is gearing up to send more troops to Afghanistan to support Afghan forces straining to beat back the resurgent Taliban.
