Slamming Modi in his interview to Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana, party chief Uddhav Thackeray has said that he cannot see Achchhe Din anywhere except the official advertisements put out by the Narendra Modi government.

"(I) can't see Achchhe Din except in government advertisements," Uddhav Thackeray said in the interview in which he has spoken on range of issues from demonetisation to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and military standoff with China over Doklam plateau in Bhutan.

Uddhav Thackeray also took a dig at Devendra Fadnavis government in Maharashtra over the issue of farmers' loan waiver.

"Government should show the list of farmers, who have got benefitted from loan waiver. Farmers' loan of Rs 39 lakh crore was waived off. So, why is government hiding their names? Government should not fool people or else (we) will intensify our agitation," Uddhav Thackeray said.

Shiv Sena has already launched a protest campaign 'Dhol Bajao' against the loan waiver scheme of the Maharashtra government. The Shiv Sena workers have staged Dhol Bajao protests outside district banks and demanded a list of beneficiaries.

UDDHAV SLAMS MODI GOVERNMENT: THINGS TO KNOW
  1. Uddhav Thackeray said that the central government is not working with clarity in matters of great significance. The government is making common people scapegoat every time whether it is the decision of note ban or GST implementation, it is always common man who has suffered, Thackeray said.
  2. "I have no grudge against GST. But what is happening right now in the name of GST is chaos and I just can't sit and see this chaos. I raised my voice for Mumbai and yes Mumbai got saved in this GST. And not only Mumbai but other 27 corporations also got benefitted by this. The government is giving us compensation which BMC and other corporations used to get directly by the way of octroi," said Uddhav Thackeray.
  3. Uddhav said centralisation of power is happening under Modi government. If everyone is going to speak or work what the Prime Minister says then what is the meaning of autonomy given to Panchayat Raj by Rajiv Gandhi, asked Shiv Sena chief.
  4. Uddhav claimed that he was following legacy of Balasaheb who used to criticise Vajpayee government's decisions which he felt was not good for people. "In last 3 years I am doing the same thing. Whatever I felt that a decision taken by government in the last three years is not good for the people, I have raised my voice," said Uddhav Thackeray, adding that his father used to say "Acts and laws are for people. People are not for Acts and laws. Acts and laws should be simple."
  5. Criticising implementation of demonetisation, Uddhav Thackeray said, "Recently I read that during this period (of demonetisation) 15 lakh people lost their jobs. It means 60 lakh people suffered because of demonetisation."
  6. Uddhav said that abolishing octroi was not good for Mumbai. "With the closure of octroi toll plazas, there will be no check on vehicles entering Mumbai. Earlier, checks at toll plazas helped keeping a tab on vehicles entering Mumbai."
