India Today is in possession of a letter which Minister Mastan wrote on his official letterhead to Purnia DM on November 23, directing him to transfer 20 government officials in the Amour and Baisi block without giving any reason for the same. Interestingly, there is not a single complaint against any of the 20 government servants, which can justify their transfer.

SUSHIL MODI SLAMS TRANSFER-POSTINGS

Sushil Modi, former deputy chief minister of Bihar, has now raised the issue and attacked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, alleging that his cabinet colleagues were misusing their position and writing unwarranted letters for transfer and posting of government officials.

"With the letter of Abdul Zalil Mastan, it has become clear how transfer and posting of government officers have now become a sort of business in Bihar. The 20 government servants, for whose transfer the Minister has written the letter, have no complaints against them", Sushil Modi said.

Upping the ante on Nitish Kumar, Sushil Modi demanded that he take stern action against the erring minister and sack him from the cabinet. "Is a minister authorised to write such letters to the DM or is it not the DM's prerogative to take such a decision. I challenge Nitish Kumar to show courage to sack Abdul Zalil Mastan from the cabinet", demanded the former Bihar deputy CM.

It may be noted that another minister from RJD quota in Nitish cabinet Abdul Gafoor has embarrassed the Bihar Chief Minister when he met don-turned politician Md. Shahbuddin in Siwan jail this March.
