Telangana: 9-month pregnant woman set ablaze by husband for dowry, delivers baby while battling for life

The couple got into a heated argument after which Muzeeb poured kerosene on his 9-month pregnant wife Sana Begum and set her on fire. She delivered a baby boy on Wednesday morning while undergoing treatments for her serious burns.

A nine-month pregnant woman, who was set ablaze allegedly by her husband in Telangana, has given birth to a healthy baby even while battling for her life.

20-year-old Sana Begum was set on fire by her husband Shaik Muzeeb in Nizamabad on Tuesday night. Sana had married Muzeeb a year ago and was expecting a baby. They are residents of Nizam Colony in Telangana.

Muzeeb had been harassing his wife for additional dowry for the past few months. On Tuesday night, he got into an argument with her after a few heated exchanges, he poured kerosene on her and set her on fire.

As Sana screamed for help, neighbours rushed to her rescue and admitted her to the Government General Hospital.

WOMAN DELIVERS BABY WHILE BEING TREATED FOR BURNS

The woman delivered a baby boy on Wednesday morning while undergoing treatments for her serious burns.

Speaking to India Today, Dr Ramulu, Superintendent of the hospital, said, "Sana is still critical but the baby is safe."

Nizamabad police has registered a case under Sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 498-A (dowry harassment) of the IPC against Shaik Muzeeb and taken him into the custody.
