Techie befriended Indore teen by pretending to be a girl, stabbed her to death when she blocked him

Macabre crimes linked to Facebook relationships with strangers continue to pour in regularly, and this time, cost the life of a 16-year-old girl in Indore.

Amit Yadav, a 24-year-old software engineer, had pretended to be a girl on Facebook, and befriended a young girl called Priya. However, when he revealed his true identity to the girl, she broke off all ties with him. The enraged techie reached Priya's flat and attacked the girl and her mother with a knife, leading to the girl's death.

Subsequently, he tried to kill himself by jumping from the second-storey flat but failed in the process. Police are investigating the case.

The youth, who was infatuated with Priya, had befriended her using the name Priyanshi.

According to area SHO Rajendra Soni, Amit kept up the facade of being a girl for over a year. However, when he revealed his true identity, Priya unfriended and blocked him. By then the accused had already got his hands on Priya's address and her mother's mobile number.

He reached the flat and attacked Priya's mother. When Priya intervened, he repeatedly stabbed her and she died on the spot. Priya's mother has been rushed to hospital.
