Four college students lost their lives in a road accident near Kanyakumari and 15 were injured. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon.

The students were studying at Iyappa Girls College at Sungankadai in Kanyakumari district.

The students were on their way back to Thakalai in a mini bus when a lorry that was going towards Nagarcoil rammed their vehicle.

While Sivaranjani, Deepa and Manju lost their lives on the spot, another student Sangeetha succumbed to her injuries while being taken to the hospital.

Onlookers claimed that the van driver tried to overtake a vehicle at high speed but lost control over the vehicle. A speeding truck rammed the mini bus leading to the accident.

The accident was caught on a CCTV footage which proved claims made by onlookers.

Police were informed about the accident and a case has been registered.

The CCTV footage has shocked both locals and the people of the entire state.
