Subramani was known to be an aide of Vijayabaskar for a very long period of time. Subramani acquired government medical contracts after AIADMK came to power but after the recent raids, he was depressed.

Subramani, on Monday, went to his 10 acre farmhouse and told its supervisor that he wishes to sleep for a while. When the supervisor went to wake him up some time later, he was found unconscious. He was rushed to a hospital but the doctors couldn't save his life. According to the hospital reports, Subramani had consumed rat poison, which led to his death. However, police did not find any bottle or container with rat poison in the bedroom of his farmhouse.

According to workers at Subramani's residence, the contractor was depressed after he returned from his recent Chennai visit. They saw him write something on papers before he proceeded to his farmhouse. Subramani had allegedly tried to meet prominent AIADMK leaders in Chennai but his trip was not successful.

Subramani is survived by his wife Shanthi and two children- daughter Abhirami and son Sathish. Police have now filed a case of suicide.
