SC fines Swami Om Rs 10 lakh for challenging Dipak Misra's appointment as next CJI

The Supreme Court today slapped a fine of Rs 10 lakh on self-proclaimed godman Swami Om for challenging the appointment of Dipak Misra as the next Chief Justice of India.

The apex court threw out Swami Om's plea describing it as frivolous and slapped Rs 10 lakh fine each on him and one Mukesh Jain.

Swami Om was recently arrested by inter-state cell of crime branch from Delhi's Bhajanpura area.

A few months ago, Om Swami, who was kicked out of the popular TV reality show Bigg Boss for misbehaving with fellow woman contestant in January, was thrashed by locals in Delhi when he tried to misbehave with a woman during a cultural event.

In February, a woman accused the former Bigg Boss contestant and his associate of allegedly outraging her modesty by ripping off her clothes.

A case in this regard was registered at IP Estate police station.

According to the complaint filed by the victim, Om Swami and his associate Santosh Anand allegedly ripped off her clothes on February 7.

The victim alleged that the duo attacked her and ripped off her clothes in an attempt to humiliate her in full public view at Rajghat area in New Delhi.
