JDU leader and social activist Swami Agnivesh has pointed towards a conspiracy to cover up the deaths of two mill leaders in Motihari, last month by the Nitish Kumar government. Slamming his own government in the state, Agnivesh said he did not have faith in Bihar government's constituted SIT probe and demanded the case be handed to the CBI.

"Both mill leaders were not torched to death but it's a case of self immolation. They had warned the police and district administration of setting themselves on fire, if their demands were not met but the local administration remained mum. I will call the deaths of the two mill leaders murder by the Motihari administration. I demand a CBI probe into the case now," said Agnivesh.

The social leader alleged a nexus of police, businessman, mill owner and land mafia was behind the gruesome incident where two mill leaders Naresh Srivastava and Suraj Baitha allegedly torched themselves on April 10 protesting closure of Hanuman Sugar Mill in Motihari several years back and non-payment of dues to 7000 farmers and 500 labourers.

"Both mill leaders had got all kind of lucrative offers including crores of money to take back their demands but they were so honest that they stood for other mill workers. We have evidence that the mill leaders immolated themselves. The property of Vijay Nopani, the mill owner should be sold and the dues of the workers should be given," said the JDU leader.

It may be noted that Agnivesh had led a five-member fact finding team to Motihari on May 1 and 2 in connection with the incident and submitted its report to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar alleging that the two mill leaders were not torched by others as had been pointed by the local administration but had committed self immolation. The JDU leader tried to meet Nitish Kumar for last two days but was denied appointment.
