No toilets in houses? Then, no school for children, no benefits from government, says Buxur DM
A video has gone viral on social media in which Buxur DM Raman Kumar is seen threatening that he will deprive people of benefits they get from the government and get their kids' admission cancelled from school if they do not build toilets in their houses.

In a bid to promote sanitation and do away with open defecation, the Centre has been carrying out massive awareness campaigns under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. However, it appears that the district magistrate of Buxur in Bihar believes he has a better way of raising awareness with regard to Swacch Bharat Abhiyan -- by threatening people that he would deprive them of benefits they get from the government.
A video has gone viral on social media where Buxur DM Raman Kumar is seen threatening people to give up open defecation and build toilets in their house. According to sources, this video is believed to be one-month old when he was touring villages and raising awareness about sanitation.
Kumar's controversial conversation took place with locals at Qamarpur village in Buxur. In this video, he is seen slamming people of a house for not having built a toilet and depending on the government to do so.

Such people will have to defecate inside their houses. Why have you not built a toilet in your house? Is there nothing like culture and civic sense? Will everyone defecate in the open in the country? You people want everything from the government. You dont want clothes to wear from the government. But you want toilets to be built by the government. Why have you not built a toilet till now? You will have to make arrangements for building a toilet at home", said Kumar.
The district magistrate did not stop here and warned that he wouldnt allow open defecation and threatened that if people did not build toilets in their houses, he would get names of their children cancelled from school and deprive them of the benefits they get from the government.
I will not allow anyone to defecate in the open. Such people are out of their mind. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar have been educating people everyday about building toilets, but you people still do not understand. Should government officials and mukhiyas come and lick your boots to get you to build toilets. The names of your children will be cancelled from school and government benefits you receive will be stopped", said the district magistrate of Buxur.
