Bihar government insults Sukma martyr, Rs 5 lakh compensation cheque to soldier's family bounces
The cheque of Rs 5 lakh issued by the Nitish Kumar government to the kin of Sukma attack martyr Ranjeet Kumar has bounced.

In another insult to a Sukma martyr from Bihar, a Rs 5 lakh cheque which was given to the martyr Ranjeet Kumar's family by the Nitish Kumar government as compensation has bounced.
Earlier, no minister from Bihar came to attend the wreath laying ceremony of six soldiers who lost their lives in the dastardly attack by Maoists in Sukma district of Chattisgarh.
Ranjeet Kumar who hailed from Sheikhpura lost his life on April 24 but even after two weeks, Kumar's family is running from pillar to post to cash the cheque.
Kumar's wife Savita Devi deposited the Rs 5 lakh cheque (HDFC Bank, Sheikhpura Branch) soon after she received it in her State Bank of India account in Jamui. The cheque was sent to HDFC Patna instead of Sheikhpura for clearing. Later, the cheque was dispatched to Noida for clearing under cheque truncation system (CTS).
HDFC refused to honor the cheque after a signature problem was reported in the Noida office. The signature on records with Noida office was of previous Sheikhpura DM, Chandrashekhar Singh instead of incumbent DM Dinesh Kumar.
"There was some error regarding signature. We have called the HDFC representatives and sorted out the problem. Now, whenever Savita Devi deposits her cheque, it will be honored," said Dinesh Kumar, DM of Sheikhpura.
The error may have been rectified but this has brought to light the Nitish Kumar government's indifference towards the martyred jawans who made the supreme sacrifice for the country.
25 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans were martyred in an encounter with Maoists in Sukma district of Chattisgarh on April 24, 2017. The jawans were assigned the task of providing security to National Highway-30 in the trouble torn region.
