Former Congress leader SM Krishna, who was miffed with the party's governance in Karnataka and was feeling sidelined, is all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party.

After Karnataka state BJP president BS Yeddyurappa called on SM Krishna, the latter is expected to join the party on March 18.

The former External Affairs Minister will be formally inducted into the BJP after a meeting with Amit Shah.

RESIGNATION FROM CONG A PAINFUL MOMENT: SM KRISHNA

Announcing his resignation from the Congress, SM Krishna had termed it 'a very painful moment'. He had said, "A situation has now come wherein I have to leave the home in which I resided peacefully for the last 46 years."

This move will definitely affect the image of the Congress and Siddaramaiah's efforts to show solidarity with the party, especially when the state elections are due in 2018.

"SM Krishna has made up his mind to join the BJP. He wanted to respect, while the Congress insulted him," said Yeddyurappa.

KRISHNA'S PRESENCE TO BOOST BJP

He told India Today that a veteran leader like Krishna will boost the image of BJP. He said that PM Modi's governance and Amit Shah's leadership is attracting senior congress leaders.

Meanwhile, Union Minister Sadanand Gowda said that the party is very happy and welcomes Krishna to the BJP.
