The ruling BJP in its recently held training programme at Pachmari may have advised party MLAs not to raise questions over the functioning of the government inside the Vidhan Sabha but this has not deterred former chief minister Babulal Gaur.

Gaur who was recently eased out of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet on grounds of crossing 75 years of age on Tuesday questioned the functioning of the state government saying bureaucrats were running amok and heedless.

HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  1. Referring to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan's secretary Vivek Aggarwal Gaur said, "There is one bureaucrat named Vivek Aggarwal who does not take any one's call."
  2. Gaur made the reference about Aggarwal while asking a question in the state Vidhan Sabha on the hazardous health impacts of the Bhanpur garbage dumping ground on the residents of the city. Aggarwal who is considered to be a confidant of Shivraj Singh Chouhan also happens to be the secretary of the Urban Administration Department (UAD).
  3. The UAD has been tasked with shifting the garbage dumping site from Bhanpur to outside the city limits. "I want to know when will this shifting take place, where this site is being shifted to, what is the status of the work and is there any study to show the kind of health damage this site is causing to the residents of the city but surprisingly there is no response from the government. No one knows what is happening and Vivek Aggarwal the secretary of the department does not even take my calls," Gaur said inside the Vidhan Sabha.
  4. And while Gaur made these allegations amidst applause from the opposition benches a visibly embarrassed Aggarwal, sheepishly watched the proceeding from the officers box. Aggarwal later refused to comment on the charges levelled against him by the former chief minister.
  5. Sensing an opportunity to corner the government on the issue, the opposition Congress party tried to poke fun at the government. Newly appointed leader of opposition Ajay Singh said if this was happening with a former chief minister, the plight of other public representatives could be well imagined. "If a former leader and the senior most member of the house was being treated by bureaucrats like how are they treating other MLAs," he asked.
  6. Later while speaking to the media Gaur said, " Ninety nine per cent of the people residing close to the dumping ground are getting affected and there are orders from the state Human Rights organisation to shift the dumping site from the spot. I have said what I wanted to say inside the Vidhan Sabha."
