Siwan on alert ahead of Shahabuddin's bail petition hearing in SC tomorrow

Siwan has been put on alert ahead of the hearing on RJD strongman Shahabuddin's bail in the Supreme Court on Wednesday. The district administration has made elaborate security arrangement in the district especially in Pratappur which is the village of Shahabuddin to keep trouble makers at bay.

The apex court had deferred hearing on a petition challenging Shahabuddin's bail from Monday to Wednesday after Shahbuddin's lawyer Ram Jethmalani requested for two more days to prepare documents relating to the case.

The state government challenged the bail granted to the four-time RJD MP after Patna High Court granted the same to Shahabuddin which facilitated release of the don from Bhagalpur jail on September 10.

PRASHANT BHUSHAN TOO CHALLENGED THE GANGSTER'S BAIL

Senior Supreme Court counsel Prashant Bhushan has also challenged Shahabuddin's bail on behalf of Chanda Babu, whose three sons were allegedly killed by the gangster-turned politician. The apex court last week had served notice to Shahabuddin on bail granted to him should not be cancelled.

Anticipating trouble in Siwan if Shahabuddin's bail is cancelled by the apex court on Wednesday, security arrangement has been beefed up to the same level which was present when Shahabuddin returned to Siwan after his release from jail. The district administration is also keeping a close vigil of persons close to Shahabuddin especially in and around Pratappur.

The district administration soon after the don's release from jail had submitted a report to state government asserting that there was an atmosphere of fear in Siwan after hi s release and recommended sending back Shahabuddin to jail.
