Sanjay Gehlot, President of Swachhata Karamchari Union said,"They gave us many assurances in the meeting said we would get our money soon because they have no money presently and also agreed to meet us demands. We decided to call of the strike, but when the minutes of te meeting were published they ommitted some crucial information"

Saying the authorities are making false promises another woman said,"Government says they've given the money, MCD says they have none. Where is it all going? For how long do we suffer?"

Meanwhile, the MCD has hired private contractors to clean East Delhi's streets as garbage in the area continues to pile up for the 7th day.
