The MP defended the recommendations saying there was nothing wrong in helping his community if they are needy.

MPs are allowed to recommend candidates for admission at Kendriya Vidyalayas under rules.

The list of recommended candidates for admission to the KV contains 7 children from the Yadav community. When asked if he had sent the recommendations, the MP said that it was well within his right to do so. "What is wrong if I recommended names of Yadav children? Every leader does this. There is a conspiracy at work against me," he said, adding, "last year when I did not recommend the names from my community, no one questioned that."
