Body recovered of Russian citizen who died while rafting in Arunachal

The body of a Russian national who reportedly drowned while on a rafting expedition in Kamala River near Tamin under the Lower Subansiri district on October 31 was finally recovered on Wednesday evening, officials said.

Deputy Commissioner Lower Subansiri, Kemo Lollen said that the body of the deceased was recovered on Wednesday at the Kamala River. However, the search for the body was on since the day the incident took place. He said that the five-member team from Russia including one woman had reached Kurung Kumey from Guwahati a few days ago and the incident took place on October 31.

He said, "We had no information on the tourists visiting either Kurung Kumey or Lower Subansiri district and the district administration came to know about the incident yesterday evening."

The body of decease have been identified as Aleksandr Lifanov, 59 from Moscow.

The body of Alexender Lifanov handed over to their team leader Aleksey Andreev and other four members today flown to Guwahati by a Skyone chopper from Ziro provide by the state government at 2 pm which initiated by the chief minister Pema khandu, he said.
