RSS to lecture university professors on national value-based teaching
The seminar will be addressed by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and joint general secretaries Krishna Gopal and Suresh Soni among others.
The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is organising a two-day seminar at Delhi University's Hans Raj College this week.
The two-day event named 'Gyan Sangam' will be held on March 25 and March 26 and will be attended by teachers from various universities who are associated with the RSS ideology.
The seminar will be addressed by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat and joint general secretaries Krishna Gopal and Suresh Soni among others.
The panelists at the RSS seminar will discuss "how to free teaching system from colonial values and establish national values in them".
A letter circulated by the RSS internally outlines the objective of the seminar. It stressed on the need to develop a social and intellectual point of view which would be able to solve the problems of the current generation. It also talks about getting rid of the colonial mindset among students and instilling "national values" in them.
The seminar comes in the wake of the violence in Delhi University after JNU students Umar Khalid and Shehla Rashid were not allowed to speak at Ramjas College.
As the Ramjas violence spiralled into a larger debate on nationalism versus freedom of speech, the BJP government at the Centre made it clear that it would tolerate slogans like "Kashmir maange azaadi" and "Bastar maange azaadi".
In an interview, Union minister M Venkaiah Naidu had said raising azaadi slogans is treason and hinted at the government planning to change the existing sedition law to make it more stringent.
