RPS Infra gets contract worth Rs 34 crore despite blacklisting by BMC

Blacklisting by BMC holds little value for RPS Infra as the company reserved a contract worth crores despite involvement in a road scam.

Despite its tainted involvement in a road scam, RPS Infra has landed with a contract worth Rs 34 crore in Nagpur.

MNS Nagpur unit head Manisha Papdkar, who has complained to the civic body, said "When I got to know that our civic body has issued work order to the company RPS infra I was shocked. How can they give contract to a company which was blacklisted by other civic body."

"I had written to civic body chief in July but haven't got any reply," Manisha said.

CIVIC BODY FLOUTING NORMS?

MNS also alleged that civic body has flouted norms while awarding contracts. Civic body has not even done proper background check of the company, said the MNS leader.

"No action was taken against RPS infra in Mumbai even after the company got blacklisted by BMC. It is because of their connection with BJP. In CM's hometown Nagpur, same black listed company got road contracts worth Rs 34 crores. Why there is no action against this company?" said Nawab Malik, NCP spokesperson.

BJP CONTRADICTS OWN CLAIMS

With this accusation, BJP has contradicted its allegations against Shiv Sena for indulging in road scam and domination of BMC by mafia.

Nagpur Corporation has received work order for Dhantoli zone and Nehru Nagar zone in the city.

MNS Nagpur unit has asked civic body chief to scrap the current contracts of RPS Infra and issue new notice for contract bid.

In another case of corruption under RPS Infra, Pankaja Munde and her partner, husband also had charges levelled against them for corruption.
