Rajasthan: Congress slams Raje govt over rising incidents of rape
The latest incidents of rape are giving opposition Congress a chance to hit out at Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.

Rajasthan has been rocked by a series of rape cases including of children and young girls. The latest developments are giving opposition Congress a chance to hit out at Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
In a latest, a 21-year-old girl from Bilaspur in Chattisgarh whose family was a follower of a Godman nicknamed Falahari Baba in Alwar has accused him of raping her when she met her to seek blessings and make an offering for success in her examination and career in August.
The girl and her family got the courage to report the matter to senior police officers in Chattisgarh following arrest and conviction of Gurmeet Ram Rahim in Panchkula.
The Chattisgarh Police have sent her FIR and other details to Alwar Police which has launched an investigation into the incident. The Godman has since admitted to ICU complaining intestine infection and high blood pressure and police have been awaiting medical permission to interrogate him.
The police have asked the complainant to come to Alwar to record her statement. "We are expecting her to arrive in Alwar soon," says Hemant Priyadarshi, Inspector general Police, Jaipur (rural).
Meanwhile, an 18-year-old student who was raped by two teachers in Sikar has been in a coma struggling for life. She was repeatedly raped by her two teachers and once she became pregnant, her mother took her to a doctor following her complaint of uneasiness unaware that she was pregnant.
ACCUSED PERSUADED GIRL'S MOTHER
Both accused reached the hospital and persuaded her mother to take the victim to a doctor known to them. There, the girl was aborted, illegally landing her in a serious condition. She was subsequently shifted to a Jaipur hospital where she was operated upon and when her condition further deteriorated, to SMS Hospital.
"I am supervising the case on daily basis and we are trying to obtain DNA results quickly,'' said IGP Priyadarshi. Since the girl continues to be in a coma and is battling for life, the police who arrested both the accused are presently collecting circumstantial evidence to prosecute the alleged rapists.
Sachin Pilot, Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee president has blasted state government for rising crime against women. Pilot accused Raje of insensitivity and ignoring repeated rapes including that of minor girls.
