Terrorists take advantage of element of surprise if we live in isolation: Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore

Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore inaugurated the 17th International Seminar on Counter Terrorism, being organised by National Security Guard, in Manesar, Haryana today.

The Minister unveiled the NSG annual magazine 'The Bombshell', which contains details of various IED explosions that occurred in various parts of the world in 2016.

Earlier, Col. Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore also inaugurated the Niranjan Auditorium, in memory of Lt Col. Niranjan Kumar, who laid down his life during the Pathankot attack in 2016.

WHAT HE SAID:

  • Terrorism is a global threat and the footprint of terrorism does not restrict to any border.
  • There should be proper coordination between the agencies within the country, as well as between the countries, because terrorists take advantage of element of surprise if we live in isolation The Minister said that now the focus should be more on Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).
  • Tthe outcome of the seminar should be shared among the different agencies, to develop intelligence and also use the knowledge for safety and security.
  • There should be collaboration in intelligence, strategy and technology. He appreciated the Ministry of Home Affairs and Ministry of Defence for keeping pace with other countries in terms of modernising the forces.

During the day, two sessions were held to discuss on the manifestation of IED threats in the last decade and the global cooperation to mitigate IED menace.
