Section 19 of POSCO Act could be misused against judges, needs to be repealed, says Subramanium Swamy
However, Women and Child Ministry believes it is a crucial Section, which should not be repealed as it applies to any one including school teachers who get information about a child's exploitation and it will go a long way in stopping child molestation.

BJP's Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy said that Section 19 of POSCO Act which states that even the judges who hear about a child being molested in divorce cases is duty bound to report the matter to police could be misused against judges and need to be repealed.
"Provisions in the Section provide that even the judges who hear about a child being molested in divorce cases is duty bound to report the matter to police. In case, he or she fails to do so then they are liable for legal action. This section could be misused to put pressure on judges and hence it should be repealed," Swamy said.
