Bihar: Police officer shot dead by unidentified assailants in Patna

ASI RR Chowdhary was riding his motorcycle on the Bakhtiyarpur-Patna expressway when assailants opened fire near Fatuha area.

An assistant sub-inspector was shot dead in Patna by unidentified criminals on Saturday afternoon. The incident happened around 3 pm when RR Chowdhary, posted as ASI at Telhara police station in Nalanda, was coming to Patna.

Chowdhary was riding his motorcycle on the Bakhtiyarpur-Patna expressway when assailants opened fire near Fatuha area. Chowdhary died on the spot, the assailants escaped and also took his service revolver.

Chowdhary's motorcycle has been recovered from the spot. Reason behind the murder is not yet known.

Chowdhary's body has been sent for post-mortem and investigations have begun in the case. The incident is a grim reminder of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

Police is investigating whether the killing is a result of personal rivalry or otherwise.
