Opposition to corner government in Parliament over EVM tampering, cow vigilantism
The Opposition will present the memorandum to President Pranab Mukherjee today.

Opposition parties led by the Congress huddled in the Parliament to chart out the memorandum on various issues including EVM tampering that they will present to the President Pranab Mukherjee today afternoon.

Earlier the parties had decided to raise the electronic voting machines (EVM) tampering matter only but the Opposition camp has now revealed that there are a host of other issues that would be part of the memorandum.

"We will raise issues related to the current political scenario in the country which includes cow vigilantism, Kashmir apart from the faulty EVMs issue," said a senior Congress leader who was present at the meeting.

Leaders of at least 13 Opposition parties had met the Chief Election Commissioner on Monday evening demanding that their concerns on the issue be addressed.

Opposition leaders have been demanding that VVPAT (Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail) be introduced in all future elections. The Congress has also been pushing for use of ballot papers instead of EVMs in upcoming elections in view of the alleged tampering.
