Only 1 Delhi school takes up CISF on its post-Pradyuman murder security consultancy offer

Of the 14 schools in Delhi-NCR approached by CISF in the light of seven-year-old Pradyuman's murder, only Bharati Vidya Bhawan has agreed to avail CISF consultancy's service in enhancing security on school grounds.

A fortnight after Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) offered its expertise as a consultant in securing public and private schools, only one top school in Delhi has made it to the list. A total of 14 schools had approached CISF.

Immediately after the gruesome murder of seven-year-old Pradyuman, CISF, which guards key government installations, had written to top schools in Delhi-NCR and to other schools pan India, but only Bharati Vidya Bhawan on Delhi's KG Road sought the help of the force.

In the backdrop of Pradyuman's murder in Ryan International School, the number of schools approaching CISF from Delhi NCR was expected to be more.

The top schools that CISF approached in the NCR include Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, Delhi Public School Society, Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Springdales School Pusa Road, Salwan Education Trust, DAV College Managing Committee, Modern School Barakhamba, Tagore International School, Ramjas Foundation, Sanskriti School, Birla Vidya Niketan, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, Mother's International School, Shri Ram School, Ahlcon International School and Apeejay Education Society.

Schools in other metropolitan cities have responded more positively than those in Delhi-NCR. Other schools which approached CISF include Doon School, Mumbai's Vibgyor School, Poddar Education Network and Versova based School Children Welfare School. The Poddar World School in Gujarat, Oak-Ridge school, Chirec school in Hyderabad, Orchid International School and Silver school, Mangalore's Wisdom World School, Kolkata-based St Xavier's and La Martiniere, and Smart Wonder School in Mohali are the other schools that approached CISF.

The force, which is offering its consultancy services for just around Rs 4 lakh, has already sent its officers to the schools to gather preliminary information. The force will later send its specialised team to help the schools.

In a bid to provide "safe and secure" environment for children, CISF will provide integrated security solutions that will include access control system, perimeter protection, CCTV surveillance, fire audit covering wide range of specialised security gadgets.

Commenting on its service fee, a senior officer in CISF said that the fee was very less compared to the private consultants like Ernst and Young, and KPMG.

CISF has a large clientele of 150 including top colleges such as IIM Indore, NIT Tirupati Devasthanam and 6 IIT colleges. Reliance Company installations, Infosys Campus, AIIMS and Allahabad High Court are among other service receivers.

The Central Armed Police Force is already guarding key private and government installations. These include 60 airports, the Delhi Metro, monuments of national importance and key government buildings.
