At a recent Harvard lecture, former National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon dismissed the 2013 Depsang incursion by China as one by "four men and a dog pitching a tent in a remote Himalayan valley", to say that the border was peaceful. On March 23, China's top diplomat Yang Jiechi will be in Delhi for border talks with Menon's successor Ajit Doval. China has shown more than usual interest in the slow-moving negotiations since this is the first under the Narendra Modi government. Although the Chinese media is split on the outcome of talks, it agrees that the border has remained peaceful.
