A former CPI-M lawmaker has revealed how Puthiya Tamizhagam founder-president Dr K Krishnasamy pleaded with former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa to help his daughter get into medical school.

The revelation is significant. Krishnasamy recently called for a CBI probe against an activist who helped a 17-year-old medical aspirant, Anitha, take her campaign against NEET to the Supreme Court.

Anitha killed herself last week, allegedly after she failed to score well enough on the new national entrance test. On Monday, Krishnasamy told journalists he suspected foul play in her demise, the Times of India reported.

'YOU TURNED AND BOWED TO JAYALALITHAA'

Former MLA Balabharathy said a minister reminded Krishnasamy of his plea to Jayalalithaa in the Tamil Nadu Assembly in 2015.

A record of the Assembly session accessed by India Today reveals that the minister was none other than O Panneerselvam, now the deputy chief minister in the Edappadi Palaniswami government.

Balabharathy asked how Krishnamswamy thought he had a say on Anitha's death, and that he could politicise the issue.

"You even turned and bowed to Jayalalithaa at that moment. Your selfishness was revealed in the Assembly that day," she said.
