Maharashtra: NCP leader abuses, threatens CEO of Jawaharlal Nehru Port

According to police, the accused Prashant Patil barged into the office of PSA Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal Ltd and started abusing the CEO, Captain Suresh Amirapu.

The Nhava Sheva police arrested vice president of NCP (Nationalist Congress Party) of Raigad district in Maharashtra for kicking and abusing CEO of a shipping port at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust.

According to police, the accused Prashant Patil barged into the office of PSA Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal Ltd and started abusing the CEO, Captain Suresh Amirapu. Amirapu was present in the conference room where Patil and his associates barged in and started abusing him.

Patil had been insisting Amirapu to hire some locals in his company. He had submitted an application for the same and also gave letters written by higher ups in his party asking for recruitment. Amirapu reportedly tried explaining Patil that recruitment will be done according to the due process of the company and they were going through the applications.

Patil turned furious hearing Amirapu's explanation and started abusing him. He questioned how could he not obey NCP supremo Sharad Pawar's orders. The conversation is recorded in a video that was recorded by a employee of the company present inside the conference room.

In the said video, it can be clearly seen that Patil starts abusing Amirapu and throws the bunch of files kept on the table on his face. He also kicks him and then starts abusing him for the delay in the recruitment process. Patil also threatened Amirapu and his colleagues.

This incident happened on August 10 but an FIR was only registered on Wednesday. "We arrested Patil and he has been booked on charges of assault, threatening, insult acting on the complaint filed by officials from the company. He was produced in court which sent him to judicial custody after which he applied for bail," said Senior Police Inspector Chetan Kakde of the Nhava Sheva police station.
