NCP's Mumbai wing today protested outside Mantralay road against the fuel hike. They demanded immediate rollback of fuel prices hiked continuously by the Modi govt. In a symbolic protest, NCP workers pulled an SUV and raised slogans against Modi govt. They also placed a two-wheeler on a cart citing reason of fuel hike.

"We are protesting because due to hike in fuel price common man is suffering. Daily budget is getting affected. We want prices of fuel to be lowered immediately." said Chitra Wagh of NCP.

In recent past also NCP had protested against fuel hike outside state BJP headquarters in Nariman Point.

NCP has threatened to intensify their agitation if situations remains same. Mumbai Police detained the protesting NCP workers at Nariman point. Mumbai Congress chief Sanjay Nirupam also criticised Modi govt for failing to reduce the prices of fuel.

"We will be doing a campaign against fuel hike by Modi govt and will educate people how this govt has failed and still fooling people. We will be doing a protest on 19th September against this at 60 petrol pumps across the city," said Nirupam.

While Mumbai topped the price chart with customer shelling out as much as Rs 79.48, Kolkata residents shell out Rs 73.12 for petrol. A litre of petrol in Delhi cost Rs 70.38, while in Chennai it is Rs 72.95, according to the Indian Oil Corporation.
