Convert Adarsh society into temporary hostel for MLAs, BJP MLA writes to CM Fadnavis

BJP MLA from Dhule Anil Anna Gote today suggested that the controversial Adarsh society should be temporarily converted into a hostel for legislators who come to Mumbai for legislative sessions and official work. Gote's demand comes on the backdrop of the proposal of the razing of the existing MLA hostel in south Mumbai's Nariman Point.

Gote has written a letter to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis requesting him to seek permission from the Bombay High Court to use the controversial structure as a temporary accommodation for state legislators. "The matter is pending in the Bombay High Court and hence I have written to the chief minister requesting him to seek permission from the court. Once the new MLA hostel is ready the Adarsh building can be vacated. " Gote said.

The society is currently vacant.

Meanwhile, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA from Erandol in Jalgaon district Satish Patil had a close shave when a portion of the ceiling slab collapsed. The room was empty when the incident took place. The issue was raised in the Lower house by Leader of Opposition Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil and NCP leader Ajit Pawar.

The MLA hostel is set for a revamp where four buildings will be redeveloped. The present 332 square feet rooms will be redeveloped into 1,000 square feet.
