In Short

  • Opposition attacks Nitish govt over Motihari rape case.
  • Nitish govt trying to hush up the case: Prem Kumar.
  • Survivor should be sent to AIIMS for fair medical test: Prem Kumar.

Repeated medical examination of the Motihari rape survivor has now prompted the opposition in Bihar to attack the Nitish Kumar government for trying to hush up the case and not let the truth come out. It may be remembered that since the dastardly incident happened on June 13, the first medical test was conducted almost a week later on June 22. In that report the medical board confirmed that there was no rape incident that took place with the girl while a member of the same medical board, Dr. Manoj Kumar has confirmed that the girl was indeed raped. Dr. Manoj Kumar who also happens to be the Deputy Medical Superintendent of the Civil Hospital in Motihari had given in writing to the National Commission for Women confirming rape. Shockingly, the five accused in this horrendous rape case, who are now under arrest, has inserted a pistol barrel and a wooden stick into the survivor's private parts.

Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Prem Kumar spoke exclusively to India Today.

  1. Kumar lashed out at the Bihar government and alleged that it was trying to suppress the truth and not let the facts be out.
  2. He alleged that series of medical reports in the last one week only suggested that the govt was incapable of carrying out a proper medical examination to ascertain whether the girl was in fact raped or not.
  3. Interestingly, after the first medical test was conducted on June 22, another medical examination was conducted by another medical board on June 25 in the presence of the team from National Commission for Women. In that report too, the board denied girl being subjected to rape. What is further worse that the girl was again sent to Muzaffarpur for a third round of medical examination.
  4. "Government is trying to hush up the case and does not want reality to come out. Series of medical test shows that the govt is not serious about the incident", said Prem Kumar.
  5. The opposition has demanded that the survivor should be sent to AIIMS, Delhi for a fair medical test.
  6. "The first medical examination shows that state is trying to hide the matter. Two types of report creates doubt that the government is trying to suppress the case", added Prem Kumar.
